PILI is an international organization that advances human rights around the world by stimulating public interest advocacy and developing the institutions necessary to sustain it.
PILI pursues this mission by building capacity of civil society organizations and leaders, by providing technical assistance on reforming legal aid systems and legal education, and by promoting pro bono legal practice globally. Based in Budapest, the Project Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating a 3-year project promoting legal education reform in the former Soviet Union (FSU) and Southeastern European (SEE) countries. Working closely with project partners, the Project Coordinator will help to develop action plans, monitor their implementation and build relationships with partners and other relevant stakeholders. The position reports to the Team Leader for PILI's legal education reform work in NY and PILI's Director of the Budapest office.
Key responsibilities:
. Assisting the overall management and implementation of the Legal Education Reform project;
. Serving as the principal point of contact with all partners;
. Supporting the Team Leader in the organization of events and development of technical assistance programs;
. Ensuring timely reporting from partners and generating regular internal and external reports;
. Coordinating the flow of information between PILI and its partners.
Minimum requirements:
. Knowledge of the former Soviet Union and/or Southeastern Europe
. Bachelors degree in Law, Political Science, International Relations or Education
. Minimum three years of relevant experience
. Fluent written and oral English and Russian languages
. Excellent communication skills and cultural sensitivity when interacting with partners from different countries
. Highly organized, able to effectively manage multiple tasks
. Willingness and ability to travel and work outside regular office hours
. Demonstrated interest in legal reform, human rights, or social justice issues
. Strong computer skills, including word processing and spreadsheet software (Microsoft Office)
. Experience working with universities preferred.
