CNA: Basic Training in Peace Building
The CNA Training in Peace Building is a ten-day programme of peace education that gathers people from former Yugoslavia (Croatia, BiH, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia and Kosovo). It pays special attention to connecting and communication of people from different areas, support to process of elimination of prejudice, mutual trust and confidence and constructive dealing with the past.
The Centre for Non-Violent Action (CNA) aims for the model of active citizens prepared, skilled and aware of their power to impact the society, and who feel responsible for the society and social processes. The programme raises relevant issues in terms of dealing with conflict, creates space for identification of creative approaches to transformation of conflict and development of skills necessary for further elaboration. It doesn’t offer ready-made models of conflict resolution.
The trainings are open for journalists, political party activists, teachers and education professionals, pedagogues, NGO and veteran associations’ activists, etc. CNA tries to ensure equal representation of men and women in the groups, as well as balanced age structure. Applicants have to be older than 21 years of age, interested in the work and have to file a quality application form.
Topics reviewed in an average training include: violence, communication, team-work and decision making, creative elaboration of conflicts, gender roles in society, national identity, prejudice, dealing with the past, peace-building, etc. The programme is flexible, in the sense that it follows the work and the needs of its participants, so that the work on a given topic depends primarily on the need and the motivation to work on it.
The next Training will be held in Ulcinj, Montenegro, October 23 – November 2, 2009. The Deadline for application expires on October 10, 2009.
