A request to provide alternative accommodation for Roma people on Vidikovac

Belgrade, May 20. 2013 - Regional Centre for Minorities and Civil Rights Defenders demand from local authorities in Belgrade to provide an alternative lodging for Roma families, whose homes in Vidikovac were torn down on April 22nd and 23rd, 2013 by the City authorities. Although these families previously requested temporary lodging, their request was denied, and their homes were demolished without any notice.

Worrying situation outside of the Centre for Asylum Seekers in Bogovađa

Belgrade, September 25, 2012 - The Regional Centre for Minorities strongly condemns the worrying situation outside of the Centre for Asylum Seekers in Bogovađa, which our activists visited on the 12th of September. Between eighty and a hundred asylum seekers are staying outside, as the centre has reached its maximum capacity of 150 people.

A Step towards a Solution of the Problem of Legally Invisible Persons

Belgrade, September 4, 2012 - Law on Amendments to the Law on Non-Contentious Procedure, adopted by the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia on 31st August 2012, prescribes a procedure for determination of date and place of birth of persons not registered in birth registry books. Thus, the first step was made towards solving the problem of several thousands of legally invisible persons in Serbia.
